What is Healing?
If you have a tightly held view of what healing should look or feel like, you might miss the gifts, the small miracles, as they arrive. In a way, healing is about acknowledging then changing the situation that is the cause behind the cause behind the cause of your symptoms.
The passion I bring to this work comes from personal experience with the twists and turns, the surprises and miracles, of my own healing journey. Between those and what I’ve learned from clients, I know that healing is not about always feeling good. It is about more fully showing up for and to your life. I also know that healing is not the same as being "cured." Healing is coming in to balance with yourself despite troubling and challenging symptoms.
Over time, you develop your own ability to deeply listen to your body, allowing you to be more at home with it, to prioritize health, remembering to nurture your connection with the earth and the natural world, so that you experience less pain and more pleasure, a greater understanding of your life’s purpose and an increased capacity to be present in life. True healing goes beyond a first aid patching up of symptoms, requiring you to become more completely who you are so that you are better able to do what you are meant to do in and for this world.
What do MindBody Spirit Healthcare Energy sessions do ?
Your sessions initiate a conversation in your BodyMind, stimulating your body to do what it was born knowing – how to heal itself. That process unfolds over weeks, and months, as your BodyMind works through the changes necessary to bring you to a state of optimal physical, mental and emotional health. It’s like physical therapy for the Spirit with a side effect of healthcare.
How many sessions might you need?
It’s really more about how far you want to journey. Are your goals short or long term? Sure, you hear stories of amazing healings in one session but as exciting as those are, they are the exception. You may not see “results” for the first 3 sessions, will perhaps feel 10 to 20% better. Your BodyMind has deeply ingrained patterns some of which are inter-generational. The immediate impact of your sessions depends on your receptivity to change. Your BodyMind begins to adapt and attune to the idea that is it more than physical, more than a jumble of symptoms.
Your first sessions help to build rapport with sophisticated energy work, creating an essential foundation for your healing journey. They help you to de-stress and begin to attune to energy work.
The next 6 to 9 sessions bring your body into a more dynamic and responsive balance, transforming long-held patterns. You are not average. You have a resonance, a signature, that is distinct from anyone else who has ever lived. If follows then, that there wouldn't be a set approach to any condition. Each session is based on your body’s priorities for healing and is developed in-the-moment just for you. You begin to experience the magic of letting your body’s wisdom and memory help teach you about who you are. You are introduced to your body as an inter-connected community rather than discrete, almost mechanical, parts and pieces.
Guided hands-on self-care sessions deliver immediate in-the-moment results. Again, the goal is to shift deeply held patterns, to awaken to the possibility of other ways of being. Repetition develops the ability for your BodyMind to hold on to progress. Your body actually remembers the work it receives and your healing process builds momentum with each additional session. You continue to add to that initial 10 to 20% of improvement, of fundamental change.
Chronic conditions are tenacious, have rooted over time. The longer you have had an illness or imbalance, the longer it may take to experience returning health. It is essential to recognize the logic of this. It can take weeks to months to feel real momentum. All the while your body is cleansing, realigning, re-establishing critical internal communication. Healing requires commitment, persistence and patience. In the short term, you may be surprised by improvements in conditions you hadn’t realized you had.
Preparing for your session
During your session
Because music can either enhance or distract from a session, I work in silence. That also facilitates my ability to deeply listen "in" to your system.
With Energy Medicine, simple sessions are as profound as ones that are longer and more complex. Even when practicing self-care, your BodyMind knows how many changes and corrections it is ready to initiate at any given time. You bring a particular “bandwidth” to each session and that impacts your ability to receive and integrate the information offered in your session. In energy terms, less is more.
To facilitate this essential and often magical process, I draw on a strongly honed intuition, informed by ongoing right brain training in multiple disciplines. In partnership with these, in person, or at a distance, I access our shared energy field, sometimes resourcing from detailed protocol charts but not anchoring to them, I verify information I “perceive” with muscle checking then use tapping to help imprint each complex just-for-you web of information, so that your BodyMind knows which essential internal connections to weave. Tapping on your body helps it to focus on healing. Tapping has been used by some indigenous holistic systems, such as yoga, for centuries. Tapping on the head tells the brain to “fix” faulty communication circuits and the heart to “store” that updated information, and the gut-brain to remember it. It activates the brain and helps to facilitate the body’s own ability to restore and maintain its optimum health. In distance sessions, I tap on my own body and ask that you gently tap on yours at the same time. Energy medicine is never about force.
During a hands-on session, commonly experienced sensations include feeling warm or cold, a general experience of calm relaxation that spreads through your body, a sudden need to express an emotion such as laughing or crying, and abdominal gurgling as energy is released from the gut-brain and diaphragm. With distance work, it’s a little less likely to experience an in-the-moment response other than relaxation, along with curiosity about and engagement with the information that surfaced.
You’re more likely to experience the unfolding of your session over a period of 4 days. Sometimes it helps to jot notes to “bookmark” what you notice as changes can be subtle. Then you’ll remember your own experience.

Preparing for your session
- During your session you remain fully clothed. Loose fitting clothing is best: no tight jeans, low cut shirts, skirts or dresses (unless you have shorts under them.). If you wear jewelry, make sure it is easy to remove. Bring a comb or brush to fix your hair afterwards.
- Please refrain from wearing perfume/cologne/scented lotions and other strongly scented products. Since you remain clothed during your session, also avoid scented laundry detergents, fabric softeners, and dryer sheets.
- Be mindful of what you eat and drink in the twenty-four hours before your session. Things like alcohol and non-prescription drugs — not eating at all or having a big piece of chocolate cake right before your session — can affect your metabolism and interfere with a session’s unfolding.
- Use the restroom right before your session.
- Unless you are expecting a call of an emergency nature, during your session turn off your cell phone and any other electronic devices.

After your session
- Drink plenty of water over the following 24 hours. Yes, even after a virtual session. Water helps you process emotion. And I recommend an electrolyte supplement.
- It’s best if you schedule a buffer between your session and the next part of your day. Get a cup of tea, sit and relax. Please. Please.
- Your session continues to unfold over at least the full 24 hour “meridian cycle” of Chinese Medicine, and generally for two to four days.
- If you regularly receive chiropractic adjustments or see a massage therapist you should plan to do this a day or two after your session, not on the same day. You may find that the more sessions you receive, the less you need adjustments or massage.
